Success Stories: Tempura (“Little T”)

A Happy Ending

Once upon a time, there were three little kittens.
Their names were Miso, Sushi and Tempura.
They were rescued from beneath a tarp behind a gas station.
They were seven weeks old, and they were cared for in a foster home.
But Miso, Sushi and little Tempura did not have forever-homes.

Days passed, and the three little kittens snuggled together and played together.
They liked to pounce after toys and climb furniture.
They liked to lounge in the sun and take long naps.
But Miso, Sushi and little Tempura did not have forever-homes.

Weeks passed, and the three little kittens still snuggled together and played together.
They still liked to pounce after toys and climb furniture.
They still liked to lounge in the sun and take long naps.
But Miso, Sushi and little Tempura did not have forever-homes.

When the kittens were nine weeks old, a very nice woman visited the foster home.
She loved the kittens very much, and she chose Miso and Sushi to be her very own.
Unfortunately, little Tempura was too sick to be adopted.
Miso and Sushi had found their forever-home.
But little Tempura did not have a forever-home.

After Miso and Sushi were adopted, little Tempura’s name was changed.
Little Tempura was now called Little T.
Little T was a very spunky kitten.
He had a little black nose and a very big purr.
But little Tempura did not have a forever-home.

Little T visited the vet more than the other foster kittens,
but mostly he spent his days playing.
He had friends called London and Paris.
He had friends called Penny and Rory and Riley.
Weeks passed, and the other foster kittens were all adopted.
But Little T did not have a forever-home.

Week after week, month after month, tiny Little T grew into a bigger Little T.
Lots of other foster kittens came and went, but Little T remained.
Little T needed medicine every day, and he visited the vet more than the other kittens,
but mostly he played and he was snuggled and he was loved. And he purred a lot.
But Little T did not have a forever-home.

Then one day, when Little T was almost six months old, something changed.
Little T’s foster mummy picked up Little T and cuddled him close.
“Little Tempura,” Little T’s foster mummy said, “it’s time that you were an adopted kitten.”
Little T purred.

So Little T’s foster mummy filled out some paperwork, and wrote a big cheque,
and sent a few e-mails, and made a quick phone call.
Then Little T’s foster mummy picked up Little T,
who was now called Thomas and wore a handsome purple collar,
and she said, “Little T, you’re home.”
Little T purred.
