Happy Tail: Poppy (previously Lolo/Little O)

Poppy — a.k.a. Lolo a.k.a. Little 0 — came into foster care with Annex Cat Rescue along with her sister Puffin. Her foster Janessa had initially separated Poppy and Puffin into a bedroom to give them time to adjust. Eventually, the two sisters came out and quickly bonded with Janessa’s two older cats, though they did take longer to get comfortable with humans.

Janessa found that Poppy seemed to take to her older tabby a lot. Janessa’s existing cats helped bring Poppy and Puffin out of their shells. Poppy and her sister seemed to be more attached to the older cats than they were to each other, so Janessa recommended that they be adopted out separately and to homes with older cats.

After only a month in foster care, Poppy was adopted by Cecile and her older cat, Hoshi. Janessa’s recommendation was spot on as Poppy is totally enamored with her new older brother and has been since day one! Poppy always follows Hoshi around and she wants to cuddle with him all the time.

Cecile says that Poppy is a really sweet cat, playful and a bit mischievous. Although still fearful of strangers, when it is just her family at home, she prances around, loves to sunbathe, and loves getting pet and treats.

She also loves to eat and gets really into watching birds from the balcony. Rather than meows, Poppy makes cute little “meep” sounds. Poppy and her family have recently moved to France and she handled the move like a pro! She is enjoying her new home with her new family.

Poppy’s family absolutely adores her and loves watching her grow and come out of her shell. Cecile says she always adopts cats from rescues. “Cats from shelters [and rescues] give back all the love you give them, tenfold!”

Cecile was especially drawn to Annex Cat Rescue because the cats live with foster families; she feels knowing more about the personality of the cat you adopt is so helpful and Janessa’s advice to Cecile really helped her understand what to expect and has made the adoption process a lot easier.

About Annex Cat Rescue, Cecile says, “I had a fantastic experience with ACR. The process was easy, and it was so great having a chance to make sure Poppy and I would be a good fit. Having a better understanding of her personality made the early days so much easier.”
