Owner Surrenders/Admissions

If you have adopted a cat from Annex Cat Rescue, no matter how many years ago, we will always accept our cats back. Please contact us to arrange a surrender.

Annex Cat Rescue does not accept general owner surrenders. Only former ACR cats requiring surrender can be accepted. We apologize but our very limited resources impose this constraint. Here are some tips for finding a cat a new home:

Attempt to place your cat(s) in another home. Ask friends, neighbours, and family if they or someone they know might be interested in adopting your cat(s). You can also put up flyers in your neighbourhood, at your local pet store(s), and veterinary clinics. Find neighbourhood Facebook groups and ask their Admins if you can post there about rehoming your cat. (Some groups have rules around what posts are permitted.)

There are several organizations in Toronto who do take owner surrenders:

Etobicoke Humane Society
Toronto Humane Society

THS also has a “Facilitated Adoption” program, along with their “Owner Surrender” and “Custodial Surrender” programs.

Toronto Cat Rescue also has a Courtesy posting program.
