How to Adopt
Please contact us if you are thinking of adopting a cat or kitten. You can see our cats and kittens available for adoption here. Annex Cat Rescue has matched over 5000 cats and kittens with good adoptive homes since the rescue was founded in 1997.
Annex Cat Rescue cats live in real homes (as opposed to shelters) with our foster home volunteers, who provide individual attention to help the cats socialize. They receive good food and medical care and lots of love. We get to know each cat, so we can help you to be matched with a cat best matched to your needs and theirs.
Our adoption fees are
- $250 for a single kitten under one year or $475 for 2 kittens
- $200 for one adult cat and $350 for 2 adults
- $100 for senior cats 7 years and older, and special needs cats
The adoption fee covers spaying/neutering, microchipping, deworming/defleaing and being up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. The adoption fee is modest and does not cover all of our expenses.
We are also available to help if you have questions or concerns as your new cat is adjusting to your home.
Here is our adoption process:
- Contact our Adoption team (please include your phone number!)
- One of our Adoption team volunteers will contact you, normally within 48 hours, to schedule an adoption interview.
- Following a successful adoption interview, we will provide you with the contact details for the cat's foster home. If there are several people interested in a particular cat, you may be placed on a wait list of up to three people to meet the cat, in priority order.
- You make arrangements to visit the cat in the foster home, in person or virtually, and see if you think it’s a match.
- If you fall in love on the spot (so easy with kitties!) we ask you to go home and think about it overnight, since it’s an important decision for you, the foster home, and the cat.
- If it’s a match, the adoption fee must be paid prior to you picking up the cat and bringing it to your home. We ask all adopters to sign our adoption agreement, which sets out some basics so we all understand our roles, with the cat’s best interests first and foremost!
- After adoption, we’ll keep in touch by email to make sure all is well and offer support, if needed.
The Annex Cat Rescue’s motto is “Cat Adoption with a Difference.” If the adoption does not work out, whatever the reason, the cat will always be welcomed back to our organization. We want the best for our kitties!
