Happy Tail: Ivy (formerly Mama Bean)
A cat by any other name would be as sweet. At least, that seems to be true for Kaitlyn and her kitty Ivy, originally named Mama Bean.
Kaitlyn was drawn to Ivy right away. The quirky name of “Mama Bean” alongside a funny facial expression made her know she wanted to meet this cat. “Something about her really charmed me,” Kaitlyn says.
Despite being warned that Ivy may be shy, Kaitlyn was delighted when Ivy came up to her to accept a treat. Her friendly demeanor, and stunning green eyes, won Kaitlyn over right away and she believes the feeling was mutual. “I don’t know if I believe in love at first sight but that is certainly how it felt for Ivy and me. She’s my soul cat.”
Since taking Ivy home, Kaitlyn has been able to watch her personality soar.
“I was shocked, actually, how at ease she seemed and surprisingly wasn’t timid at all,” Kaitlyn says, adding Ivy is the one “running the entire household.”
Despite being initially apprehensive around men, including Kaitlyn’s boyfriend Anurag, Ivy has grown out of her shell and loves attention from all genders. “Now she’s completely obsessed with Anurag and enjoys being around men in general. When we have friends over, she always has to be around everyone and in on the conversation!”

As for the name change? “Ivy suited her lively and young personality more. The green eyes she had really contributed to the name choice,” Kaitlyn says, noting that Ivy still goes by nicknames like “Mama” and “Beanie,” based on her previous name, as well as “Iverson” when she’s getting into trouble, “which is often because she is rather cheeky!”
Whether she’s Ivy, Bean, or Iverson, she’s Kaitlyn’s number one girl. “She’s the light of our household. Both my boyfriend and I are obsessed with her. It’s a bit ridiculous.”
