Happy Tail: Ripley and Jones
The following is the too-cute-to-resist email exchange between ACR’s esteemed adoption team, checking in last November at the one-year mark of Ripley and Jones’ adoption by Giulia and Dean, and Giulia’s heartfelt reply.

Dear ACR,
I hope you’ll consider publishing this on your socials.
Happy Gotcha Day to Ripley and Jones. We couldn’t be more grateful.
Our Mr. Kitty passed in early November 2023. He and my partner Dean had been together for 21 years. At 21.5 years, Mr. Kitty was the most tenacious cat I’d ever met.
When he left us, I told Dean that we would only adopt when he was ready. “I’ll miss him forever. But there are animals who need help now. Whether we adopt them now or later, I’ll still miss him. And the animals will still need help.”
So, we contacted ACR. We wanted the “unadoptable” but weren’t ready for another senior. And a member of your incredible team suggested this brother and sister — one all black, desperately shy (Jones), the other a grey tabby, already queen of her domain (Ripley).
Ripley and Jones have been the most joyful part of a hard year. Their incredible personalities, resilience, and straight-up hilarity bring sunshine into every one of our days.
Jones has come so far: from untouchable and hidden to climbing into bed and eating from my hand. We still have far to go but watching him grow into himself and how his sister takes care of him has been so rewarding and transformative for us both. The four of us are a family now.
We will never stop thinking of our Mr. Kitty. But these two special rescues have shown us — two lifelong animal lovers — what adoption can really mean. We are forever grateful to ACR for the essential work you do. Thank you!
Giulia
(We warned you it was cute!)
